Quality · The audit trail is the product

We build the quality system before the machines.

A defence buyer does not audit our marketing. They audit records. So we are writing the procedures, the travellers and the acceptance criteria now, while we fit out the facility. We will approve every stage of this flow before it runs a single paid part.

01 · The policy

Four commitments we will be held to.

We will run every process to a written procedure, and we will not run a process we have not written.

We will qualify each machine and each material before it touches a customer part, and we will keep the evidence.

We will ship no part whose records are incomplete.

We will tell a customer when additive loses on their part, when a schedule slips and when a lot fails, on the day we know.

02 · Standards

Every stage runs to a named standard.

LPBF printing
A frozen parameter and scan-strategy specification, with each alloy validated to its own powder-bed standard. IN718 answers to ASTM F3055 and Ti-6Al-4V to ASTM F2924.
Vacuum heat treatment
AMS 2750 pyrometry in-house, on the NADCAP heat-treat accreditation path.
Hot isostatic pressing
The customer's specification, run through a validated vendor inside the same quality flow.
5-axis machining
The released drawing and its datum scheme, proved by first-article inspection before the lot runs.
Inspection
The acceptance criteria written into the part's qualification plan, covering CT, penetrant, radiography and metrology.
Materials laboratory
ISO/IEC 17025 test methods, on the NABL accreditation path.

03 · The package

What ships with the part.

A part without its records is scrap to a qualification authority. Every shipment will carry its own evidence.

  • Material certificate for the powder lot, with chemistry and traceability back to the atomiser
  • Process traveller signed at every stage, from build plate to final inspection
  • Heat-treat chart with the furnace load, the thermocouple record and the AMS 2750 survey status
  • HIP certificate from the validated vendor, tied to the same lot
  • CT or NDT report read against the acceptance criteria in the qualification plan
  • Dimensional report, first-article or per-part as the drawing requires
  • Certificate of conformity, signed, listing every deviation and concession

04 · Evidence

Witness coupons on every build plate.

Every build plate will carry witness specimens printed in the same layers as the parts. Those coupons follow the parts through heat treatment and HIP, then go to our lab for tensile, hardness, chemistry and metallography under the methods the specification names. We will report the results per lot, in the part's record. A failed coupon fails the lot.

Bring us your specification.

We are writing the quality manual now, and we would rather argue it with a buyer than defend it later. Send us your specification and we will map it, clause by clause, against what this flow will deliver.
